Interesting Old Ads

I was looking through a stack of old magazines and found a few ads that I thought were interesting for one reason or another, so, here they are...

Remember back in the day, when you could get a Cell-Phone for 'Only' $695.00.

STS Cell-Phone only $695.00

You can click on the ad to get a much bigger version if you care to read about all its great features, but here's a spoiler alert, browsing the internet and Google Maps were not an option.

A Dingo ate your Baby?  No, but here is O.J. Simpson representing Dingo Boots.

OJ Simpson - Dingo boots

"He's a Dingo Man... when he starts walkin', people start talkin',... follow O.J.'s lead..."  Yikes

O.K. I have to admit, I'm not entirely sure why I find this next series so interesting.
Kirstie Alley, Cuervo, and a Donkey.

Kirstie Alley - Jose Cuervo - Donkey

Kirstie Alley - Jose Cuervo - Party

I find this one mildly amusing because it pictures a Serviceman who 'fought for freedom' lighting a cigarette,
a 'freedom' that is rapidly being taken away, like so many others.

Lucky Strike - WWII

Why do they like beer (Bud Dry)

Bud Dry - magazine ad

This was back in that small window where it seemed like every brewer came out with a 'Dry' version of their beer.  Personally, I couldn't really taste a difference, but if you don't believe the part about 'seemingly every brewer' coming out with a 'Dry' beer, take a look at the bottom right corner of this next ad.

Grolsch and Grolsch Dry - magazine ad

And speaking of Beer Fads, I thought the recent scourge of Low Carbohydrate beers was of recent origin, but here is an old ad (1979?) from a German Magazine, which in addition to Calories and Alcohol, details its Carbohydrate content (being proud it's so low).  (Ad is in German though.)

D-Pils - magazine ad
