Sid Vicious (John Simon Ritchie) Sid Vicious was born John Simon Ritchie in London England on the 10th of May 1957.   Sid Vicious is best known as a Bass player for the Sex Pistols.  Although he did play with a few other bands before joining the Sex Pistols including playing drums for Siouxsie & the Banshees during their first gig.  Although not known so much for his bass playing ability (or lack there of), Sid Vicious is idolized more for totally and unabashedly embracing the punk lifestyle.  He had what is called the 'Iconic Punk' look and truly adopted the 'live fast, die young' way of life.  At some point Sid Vicious became a Heroin addict and on October 12th 1978, he allegedly killed his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen with a single knife wound to the abdomen.  His guilt is in doubt however and a definitive explanation of Nancy Spungen's death may never be known.

He was released from incarceration on bail on February 1st 1979 and had a small celebratory gathering at his new Girlfriend's (Michelle Robinson) residence.  Sometime in the early morning hours of February 2nd 1979, Sid Vicious died from an overdose of Heroin.
