Diamond Belle Saloon, 699 Main Ave, Durango CO 81301-5423

The Diamond Belle Saloon is a tiny saloon at the Strater Hotel.  It has the appearance of a saloon from the 1890's from the decoration to the staff uniforms.  When we were there they played rag time music, like "Stephen stinking Foster".  Being a person who likes History, I loved the ambience, but it was extremely crowded.  In fact, from the time we sat down to the time we left, I don't think I saw a single seat come open.

The beer... On tap, unless I'm mistaken, they only had microbrews and Pabst Blue Ribbon.  The Micros were 3 entries from the Durango Brewing Company and two from the Ska Brewing Company.  I always like to recognize places that elect not only to go with craft beer, but pretty much squeeze out the big three.  I'm guessing they have a greater selection in bottles, but I got all my beers here on draught.

The food ... The only food we had here were appetizers, but they were better than expected.  So, I really don't know about their entrees.

I was surprised that the service here was as good as it was considering the crush of people inside.  I don't think my beer glass was ever left empty and the waitress, despite constantly working different tables was always friendly and checked in on us pretty often.
