Bar Harbor Real Ale is classified as an English Brown Ale at Beer Advocate.  That surprised me a bit as I thought it tasted more like an American Brown Ale.  I found it had a bitterness up front, which is kind of unusual, I believe it was caused by roasted malts as opposed to hops.  At any rate, although surprising, I enjoyed it, as the initial bitterness would then get washed away by delicious roasted malt goodness.  It had a full mouth-feel and I really enjoyed the roasted malt, it had almost a chocolate coffee taste. (Without the sweetness of chocolate of course.)
