Brooklyn Pilsner
|
This German Pilsener is very smooth and definitely has a German Pilsener taste to it. I suppose my only complaint is that somehow it just seems thinner and less full flavored than your best German made German Pilseners. The flavor is primarily grassy, which sounds bad when reading it, but really I generally like that in a beer and with Brooklyn Pilsner that holds true I really like that grassy flavor it presents. The hops seem rich enough, without getting overly bitter, so I suppose the complaint largely lies with the malt side of things. That being said, for an American made German Pilsener it is pretty bloody good, and perhaps even better than I think... (I smell a blind taste test on the horizon.) The carbonation was medium skewing light while the mouth-feel was medium. For me, this is truly a utility beer and by that I mean, I think I could thoroughly enjoy it with any food or by itself, and for my money that is a great quality to have. I have a feeling I'll be picking this up in the future when I see it on the shelves as it is one of the better American examples of the style, in my opinion.
