Chatoe Rogue Dirtoir Black Lager
|
This Schwarzbier was bitter and smoky. It had roasted malt flavor to be sure, but the smoke and bitterness were the predominant players. For me, it wasn't the most pleasing combination. These things are so subjective as I can see someone who likes bitter beers liking this way more than I did. However, for me, I would have preferred a roasted malt and smoke combination with just balancing bitterness. At any rate, the mouth-feel was medium with carbonation that was medium to aggressive. In addition, it wasn't a particularly smooth drinking beer, probably a combination of the carbonation and bitterness. By the way, this beer pours a beautiful black, if I were judging on looks, it would get a much higher rating.
