This American Double / Imperial Stout definitely had some richness and complexity.  It also had the 'chocolate' both in what seemed to be a chocolate malt as well as perhaps a sprinkle of cocoa.  Ultimately, although an American Double Stout, I thought it was understated, which I actually really liked, but others may prefer more punch.  The mouth-feel was medium while the carbonation skewed lighter than medium.  There was a burnt bitterness to this brew, but it wasn't overpowering.  This beer skewed complex and had a bit of a bite to it, which definitely made this a sipping beer for me.  The bite in the backend is something I can't quite put my finger on; was it chiles?  The 9% alcohol content was hidden very well.
