Cuvée Van De Keizer Blauw
|
This Belgian Strong Dark Ale is smooth with a lot of dark fruit and malty flavor. The carbonation is rather low. The mouth-feel thinner than expected, but still medium. This beer is sweet, but not overly so in my opinion. As it warms a little of the ethanol burns through, but considering this beer is 11% ethanol, the alcohol is very well hidden, which I really appreciate. Actually, I wouldn't say this beer is complex, but what flavor it has is very excellently done, for instance, it's sweet, but stops short of being sickly sweet or overly sweet. It has 11% Ethanol, but is hidden so well, you know it is a high alcohol beer, but probably wouldn't guess as high as 11%. Dark fruit is definitely the predominate flavor but I'm not sure I can even pick out one 'dark fruit' by name. Very nice, very smooth, very well done. |
