This American Double / Imperial IPA was sweet,... literally.  It tastes more like a white wine than like most 'beers'.  I believe this is one of those beers that I would have probably rated higher had I only had a 4 ounce sample.  However, drinking 12 ounces of this brew kind of wears me down.  One little thing that I didn't like was the smell, I normally don't even mention smell on this site, but with this beer, the alcohol burn hits your nose before the beer hits your lips and it turns me off a little.  The taste, as previously mentioned, was sweet.  Seriously the closest taste I can think of to 120 Minute IPA is white wine or if I use my imagination, I'd say it tastes like a mixture of 35% Grapefruit Juice, 45% Corn Syrup and 20% Everclear. 

Now to quote the bottle.... "What you have here is the holy grail for hopheads.  This beer is continually hopped over a 120-minute boil and then dry hopped every day for a month.  Enjoy now or age for a decade or so."

Since I'm definitely not a hophead, I can't really agree or disagree with the Holy Grail for hopheads comment.  (Personally, my favorite part of beer is the malt not the hops.)  But, I can say it is definitely not my holy grail.  After reading that it is continually hopped over a 120-minute boil and then dry hopped every day for a month, I quite frankly expected it to be hoppy-er.  It really didn't taste like it was that 'hoppy' to me, I mean, I seem to taste more hops in something like Real Ale Full Moon Pale Rye Ale or even Anchor Liberty Ale.  I assume the reason it doesn't seem as 'hoppy' as I expected is due to the crushing sweetness.  As far as 'enjoy now' or 'age for a decade', I can only say, I didn't wait a decade, although I sort of wish I had. 

Although this beer is definitely not for me, I must say that it is well crafted.  I know this may sound like an insult, I actually mean it as a compliment and it is... Of all the oppressively sweet beers that I've had, I think this one is one of the best.
