Hamm's
|
This American Macro Lager tastes like the definition of Average American Macro Lager. Having recently had some Miller High Life, I seriously doubt I could tell the difference between the two. It is much less aggressively carbonated than say Budweiser, which once again makes it similar to Miller High Life. There are no severe off flavors which is good, but also, it doesn't seem to have anything to really distinguish it from other American Macro Lagers, like Budweiser's peppy carbonation or Pabst Blue Ribbon's tiny metallic flavor. It is very lightly flavored in the typical American Macro Lager style, so not really my cup of tea. So, when it comes to American Macro Lagers, Hamm's seems to certainly hold its own. The problem, as I see it, despite the obvious fact that it is an American Macro Lager, is that this beer just seems to me to be straight American Macro Lager, nothing fancy and nothing God Awful. So, if American Macro Lager is what you're looking for, I can't really argue against purchasing Hamm's. Of course, if you want some real Barley malt and Hop flavor, there are plenty of other options out there. ( Upon tracking down the 'Hamm's' Website, I see that 'Hamm's' is now owned by Miller-Coors; Hmmm, perhaps there is more to the aforementioned Hamm's flavor similarity to Miller High Life than I realized. )

Beer Tripper User Reviews of Hamms
mjurney | Sweet grain, a little grassy, crisp bitterness, mild corn flavor. Body is light and watery, well carbonated. It's better than Bud, Miller and Coors. | 6 | |
