Left Hand Milk Stout
|
Every sip of this Milk / Sweet Stout starts out with roasted malt flavor, but then slides into a burnt bitterness. It has a silky mouth-feel, but I'm unsure if I like that or not in this beer. It should be noted that generally speaking, I don't think that Stouts are a style that I enjoy, therefore, my knocks against this may be more of a prejudice against the style than a problem with this particular beer. At any rate, the more I drink this, the more it's burnt bitterness wears on me, although it's not as strong as many beers... it seems pretty one dimensional and I just get bored with it very quickly. If I were drinking this in a 2 oz sampler, I may be thinking, yum, but in a 12 oz bottle, I'm thinking, damn why isn't this bottle empty yet?
