Although this Doppelbock had a fairly full mouth-feel, it also had a slickness to it that I didn't particularly care for.  The flavor was certainly dark malt with an essence of dark fruit, but I thought the flavor lacked complexity and depth especially considering that it did have a full mouth-feel.  There was also a spice, a clove like spice in the finish that asserted itself as it warmed.  Sadly, I wasn't a big fan of that either.  I don't believe this beer is bad and it certainly doesn't seem to have any off flavors, that being said, compared to the German made doppelbocks I've had, this one seems so simple, like an Anheuser-Busch version of a doppelbock.
