Noche Buena 2011

Wow this Bock is thin, both in flavor and mouth-feel. From the bottle, I thought it be strong like a Winter Warmer, but this was more like a thinner Shiner Bock. (And some of you probably thought Shiner Bock couldn't get any thinner.) So, even though this is a dark beer, it is very light on flavor. The good news is that the little flavor there, is pleasant enough, it is a bit like Shiner Bock with less bitterness and less overall flavor. So it has a touch of caramel malt, and some vague, light balance that doesn't quite balance therefore this beer does tilt sweet. But, remember, this is very light, so the lack of perfect balance is basically a non-factor, just an observation that I felt like mentioning. I suppose some more good news is that when I'm eating Mexican food I often want a lighter more watery beer to wash it down with, so I suppose I may use it for that. However, I certainly won't develop a craving to drink this on its own, because, although there certainly aren't any off flavors, the flavor there is so light, it definitely falls into a category I'd call watery.
