Theakston Old Peculier
|
This Old Ale tastes similar to a Scotch Ale in that it has a good deal of dark maltiness to it. Oddly the mouth-feel is on the thin side, yet it is rich, so I don't really understand that, but perhaps it has something to do with the very low carbonation. In addition to the dark malt, the flavor seems to have some caramel malt and dark fruits that come through, the finish is tangy. I like that it is rich, yet subdued. Old Peculier is smooth, so despite it's richness, the low carbonation and smoothness make this an easy drinking beer.
