Westmalle Trappist Dubbel is an exceptionally smooth Dubbel.  The flavor is probably text book Dubbel;... a dark fruit flavor with a little sweetness and sour on the back-end to balance.  It's very nice and well balanced.  The mouth-feel is full, maybe a shade below with Belgian fine-type carbonation that is medium and maybe skewing a little higher.   Very easy drinking for such a substantial brew; I put that down to its balance and actually, although I wouldn't quite say it is simple, I also wouldn't say it is complex, at least not overly so.  The finish is every so slightly dry.  Wow, pretty bloody impressive, nice flavor and stunning smooth drinkability for the style; seriously, you can drink these like a Newcastle Brown Ale, yet with all the flavor of a Dubbel.
